What is Interact?
Interact stands for International Action
Interact is a student-governed community service club, and the high school branch of Rotary International, with a motto of "Service Above Self." It may seem like just another community service club, but in reality it’s much more. You get the opportunity to give back to our wonderful community here in Mountain House, as well as make an international impact. Through Interact, you will develop leadership skills, make international connections, and most importantly, have fun! But more than anything, it’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other and make life-long friends! |
Interact and Rotary
Interact clubs are sponsored by Rotary clubs as a program of Rotary International. Mountain House High School Interact is sponsored by Tracy Sunrise Rotary Club. Rotary clubs provide guidance and inspiration, but the Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting.
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is a non-profit organization that promotes world understanding through international humanitarian service programs and educational and cultural exchanges. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and others who share its vision of a better world. The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto, which is also important to Interact, is "Service Above Self." RYLARYLA = Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Each year, thousands of young people take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program worldwide. Young people, ages 14-17, are chosen for their leadership potential. Rotary clubs and districts select participants and facilitate the event’s curriculum. Selected students receive scholarships to a week long leadership camp where they learn skills about how to become better leaders, build better friendships, and how to actively apply what they have learned at camp to their lives, schools, and communities. RYLA Aims to:
The Four Way TestWhat Rotary uses to decide if they should say or do something:
1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? |
